it's 1:47 am. i just finished freaking myself out with my last xanga entry (which, btw is ancient!). it doesn't help that the weather forecaster was right about the thunder/lightning storms tonight. the flashes of light cut thru my blinds! the thunder is so loud here i can feel it in the core of my being!! apparently, it's also so loud that my housemate, alice, who had fallen asleep while writing her paper woke up to it!!!

how strange it is that we should have such rainy weather here in san diego, while kimberly reports beautiful weather in seattle. has the world gone mad?

anna, sabrina, giulia, cicie, mark, ken and i would read scary stories from "the scary stories" book. you know, the one with horrible, nightmarish pictures that can only originate from hell itself? neway, after reading some cheesy childrens' horror stories from that, we started to tell our own scary stories. we've realized that the best stories are the real ones. even if they don't involve gruesome deaths or escaped murderers, our imaginations take control and have been known to make me turn on all the lights before going downstairs for water. or to hold my pee in while laying in bed late at night.

as a most recent example, here are some excerpts from an email from and to giulia hoffman in manchester, england:

giulia wrote....

Omg, that was so freakin scary. I just got up (i'm sitting at my comp at home) because I heard some noises, like pounding in my kitchen. No one's awake (it's 10am) so I knew it wasn't anyone in my flat, and I wanted to check what was going on. It sounded like it was coming outside my kitchen window, but I couldn't see so I sat on the counter to look outside and...augh! this middle-aged man-face was staring right at me! It was the window cleaner!! I didn't even know we have one! And now he's on the big window in our living room, like a few feet away from me. I'm such a dork. But man, that was freaky! He's sorta gruff-looking too, so I'm still a bit nervous. I mean, I'm still in my pajamas and all!

and i wrote...

oh my gosh! i have a scary story too!!!! have you ever seen what lies beneath? i soooo felt like michelle pfieffer and mark was like harrison! one night, i took a shower and for some reason, the glass walls of the shower started to steam up. this only happens when it's pretty warm in the bathroom since there are so many open spaces. but i've never seen it steam up this much! i was like oook, whatever. but, just as soon as it came, it quickly went away...and right as i was able to see through the glass and into my mirror, i noticed a little handprint on the far top left corner of the mirror, and as the steam creeped to the right, i started making out letters...H....E.....L....i SO FREAKED OUT!!!!!!!!! neway, i told mark and he tried to explain things logically (like harrison did!) and i believed him. THEN i realized what happened in the movie! (he was actually the bad guy! and there was something scary going on!) haha i told mark this and he got really scared. "why did you have to say that?!" he whimpered. "do you WANT to scare yourself!?" neway, i think i also scared cicie cuz she started seeing things in the mirror too.

so...yuri, my housemate, is getting married! woohoo! we're all very excited for her. this is kind of old news, but i still can't get over it.

also, i ate cream of potato soup today. not nearly as good as cream of chicken, but that's ok.

oh yeah, and i'm cc's reference for her hp internship. i've never had to write one of these things before and i'm a little excited...a little worried. it makes me feel old, yet respected. wow! they're going to read my junk!

yes, it has been quite a long time since my last entry...maybe it's because i don't really have enough time for this, or maybe it's because i'm addicted to eBay. IT'S SO PATHETIC! i bid on things but don't really want to win. you know, cuz if i win, i'll have to pay! what a horrible system...i'm just kidding. it's fun hoping to only pay $.99 for something i don't need. i've been looking mainly at dvds and board games.

i can't wait. i'm hoping to win cranium! love that game! and it's perfect for my saturday night dinners i've been having at my house. you guys should come visit! so far, we only have a mini air hockey table (which is a terribly violent game--don't let the size fool you), jenga and cards, but soon we'll have more games!!

i'm also finally busy with school and research jobs. surprise!!! i'm actually doing work now!!! it's only taken me 20 years to stop slacking off!...

hahaha what a joke...did any of you believe me? well, to be honest, i do have 2 lab jobs, but things are still pretty relaxed in SD for me. hope things are going well for y'all too. if you're bored and want to get away from homework like me, you can go read some of my favorite comics:

Get Fuzzy    Monty    Calvin and Hobbes    Liberty Meadows

PS: i got this free hockey clock from a game i went to...does anyone want it? or should i try to sell it on eBay? hmm....
